About us
Prathyasa
Bhavan Half Way Home is a project of the Ranni- Nilackal Diocese of
the Mar Thoma Church for the treatment and rehabilitation of persons
with mental illness. It started functioning on a temporary basis at
Malayalapuzha from August 2000. Subsequently, after completion of
the facilities at Anjukuzhi, the home was shifted to its permanent
location in August 2002. The Home reflects the vision of our previous
Diocesan Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Euyakim Mar Coorilos Episcopa, and was
gifted as a fitting tribute to our Metropolitan, Philipose Mar Chrysostom
Mar Thoma on his eightieth birthday.
Our motto is "God's love in thought and action." We believe
that each person has a right to life in fullness. This fullness includes
both mental and physical well-being. Persons who suffer mental illness
face mental trauma and also consequent physical distress. This prevents
their functioning as whole persons. We hope that our efforts would
enable our brothers and sisters who suffer the trauma of mental illness
to renter mainstream society or are equipped for community supported
living.
